Demography of IIMC

Sometime back Hindu published an article about a survey, which said that BBC tends to provide more jobs to women than men. This is what actually happening in the service sector jobs world over not only in media and Indian media is following suit. It seems that thousands of years of atrocity upon women is paying rich dividend now and they r fastly replacing the male dominancy from top-paid and the 'brain' sector. Fine, this is the era of women empowerment, sorry, women emancipation [empowerment is somewhat conservative like women liberty]. A noted Hindi writer and editor of Hans [Hindi monthly] says that this service sector is basically the 'savarna sector' where all the English speaking and techno savvy grand sons of old pre-90s Brahmnical landlord are getting jobs, and therefore there is no scope for the larger section of society.
But the news is, women emancipation is rocking IIMC. Have a glance at data.... This time Radio and Television Department (RTV) admitted 23 girls out of 34; the figure was 6 in last batch (A miraculous, increase in the I.Q of fairer sex). Figures are same for EJ and AD&PR as usual except HJ, though there is also a +ve trend. Sources at IIMC and the barons say that this is the demand of the market and we are reforming the demography of RTV. But what they hesitate to accept is that there is a great need for reform in faculty and admission process. There must be a English test for all the Department, like the CAT and a personality development module in syllabus rather than teaching communication theory and laws. They do not focus on practical aspects; almost half of the session is spent on futile theories. There must be a database of Media Barons, which includes their phone no., e-mail id, their background and Residential addresses. Also there must be a placement officer drawing a hefty Salary as IIMC barons get. He must have more than 10 years of experience in Media and should have good networking skills. It seems that IIMC has become a good pasture for retired Media persons, who are incapable of doing anything in the present media scenario post-90s. There should also be a performance review committee for the faculty, which submits its report every year to the governing council.
I think girls need not worry because market is in their favour. (Sorry, for speaking the truth)But the question is still there, whether this unsolicited suggestion will help the boys in getting the job… I think it will…….

Thanx 2 Susant(RTV-2004-05) for this
